Primate Elijah Ayodele has complained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ignored one significant name in his exercise of his prerogative of mercy in favour of 200 people, both living and dead, who were convicted of one crime or the other against the state.
Ayodele said it was however surprising that one name was missing, and that was the name of the self- government agitator for the Independence of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
He queried the number one citizen of Nigeria on why he should release obviously known criminals and kept a self-government agitator, which is not a criminal offence anywhere in the world.
Primate Ayodele also sent a poser, which is to the fact that if Sunday Igboho could be released, why is Nnamdi Kanu being kept perpetually in custody even when both Igboho and Kanu are fighting the same cause.
He warned the President that the continued detention of Kanu based on unending judicial process is a trivesty of justice and called for his immediate release.
He further stated prophetically that aside the South East, Nigerians can vote Tinubu out for not leading well and heaven will not fall.
He told Tinubu point blank that he released criminals and left a constitutionally allowed self agitator, and he must do some adjustments and do the needful.
Primate Ayodele said, “Release Nnamdi Kanu, you pardoned 200 to 300, then why are you keeping Nnamdi Kanu? That is the question I am asking you Mr President.
“Why must you keep Nnamdi Kanu? If you can release someone who has killed, these are wrong advice that can kill your second term and you will not win in the east.
“Release Nnamdi Kanu, What has he done?
“If you can release Sunday Igboho, why can’t you release Nnamdi Kanu.
“Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu, what are they fighting for? They are fighting the same cause.
“Mr President, better sit down and think. Don’t think because you are the sitting President, they can’t defeat you, they can defeat you.
“If you don’t do the right thing, Nigerians will just vote you out and heaven will not fall.
“Do something about Nnamdi Kanu before it is too late
“One person can make you to lose. Criminals are the people you released, criminals.
“People that were sentenced. Then why can’t you do some adjustments and do something else,” he said.
