The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Mohammadu Jalo, for allegedly beheading a motorcycle mechanic during a heated argument over the repair of his motorcycle.
The incident occurred in Bode-Saadu, Moro Local Government Area of the state, on September 17, 2025, around 1pm.
The suspect reportedly visited the mechanic’s workshop to collect his motorcycle, which was still under repair.
Police said a misunderstanding ensued between the suspect and the mechanic, during which Jalo allegedly drew a machete and severed the victim’s head.
Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the command headquarters in Ilorin.
He said a distress report was received at the Bode-Saadu Police Division, and operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, leading to the prompt arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the machete used in committing the crime.
“The machete used in the crime was recovered and secured as an exhibit. The suspect has confessed to the crime and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” the commissioner stated.
Olaiya described the act as barbaric and warned that the command would not tolerate any form of violence or lawlessness in the state.
He assured the public that justice would be served and reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Kwara State.
