President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally written to ask the Nigerian Senate to screen and confirm five service chiefs he newly appointed last week.
Senate President Akpabio immediately referred the letter to the committee of the whole for screening and confirmation of the nominees, next week Wednesday.
His letter as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces was read on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, during plenary.
According to Tinubu’s correspondence to the Senate, the nominees include:
* General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff
* Major-General Waheedi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff
* Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff
* Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke as Chief of Air Staff
* Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
