Betrayal? The Brother I Held 21-Day Fasting And Prayer Over Has Proposed To My Prayer Partner. She Accepted!
I Fasted for a Man for 21 Days… He Proposed to My Prayer Partner.
When my pastor announced a 21-day fast for clarity in relationships, I took it personally.
Because there was a man I believed God had sent.
He was kind.
Intentional.
Spiritual in a way that made you feel safe.
We prayed together.
We served together.
We talked about purpose like it was already shared.
So when the fast started, I added a private prayer request:
> “Lord, if he is my husband, confirm it clearly.”
I didn’t tell anyone.
Well… except my prayer partner.
Let’s call her Grace.
Grace and I prayed together every evening during that fast.
We held hands.
We cried.
We declared scriptures over our futures.
I even told her, half shy, half excited:
> “I think he might be the one.”
She smiled.
“Then let’s pray God’s will.”
Twenty-one days of no sugar.
No distractions.
Just faith and focus.
Day 21 ended on a Sunday.
That same Sunday… he asked to speak to me after service.
My heart was doing somersaults.
“This is it,” I thought.
“God answered.”
We sat down.
He cleared his throat.
“I value you deeply,” he started.
“But I’ve been praying… and I believe God is leading me in a different direction.”
My stomach dropped.
“A different direction?”
He nodded gently.
“I’ve grown close to someone during this fast. I feel peace about her.”
I forced a smile.
“Oh… that’s beautiful. Who?”
He hesitated.
Then said her name.
Grace.
My prayer partner.
The same Grace who held my hands every night.
The same Grace who said, “Let’s pray God’s will.”
I don’t remember how I walked to my car.
I just remember sitting there… staring at the steering wheel… feeling foolish.
I fasted.
She got the ring.
Two weeks later, the engagement photos were everywhere.
Caption: “When you fast and God answers.”
I won’t lie.
That caption hurt more than the proposal.
