Senator Gbenga Daniel Laments Being Barred From Ogun APC Stakeholders Meeting

Ogun State’s Senator representing Ogun East at the Senate, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, raised some dust after being firmly denied access to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun East stakeholders meeting at Adeola Odutola Hall, Ijebu Ode, on Monday.

‘Let it be said that whatever they do here today is null and void,” a visibly upset Daniel told reporters.

Daniel and the incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun have been in a contest for the party’s leadership in the State.

Daniel spoke in a short video minute circulating on social media, speaking outside the venue of the event.

The video showed the former Governor addressing party supporters from his white campaign bus, branded with the OGD/PBAT Movement.

Daniel said in Yoruba, “We are here for our caucus meeting and I’ve arrived since 10am. But they denied us entry. They said we should not enter in Ijebu-Ode,

‘Let it be said that whatever they do here today is null and void.”

Reports from the meeting revealed that former Ogun East Senator Lekan Mustapha said party stakeholders had unanimously agreed to support Abiodun’s senatorial bid.

“We will put a body together to deliver this message to our Governor that he has been adopted as the consensus candidate,” Mustapha said.

Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, also praised the governor’s leadership and described the endorsement as a collective decision.

“This endorsement is historic and unanimous. It reflects the collective belief that Prince Dapo Abiodun is the right person for the position,” Talabi stated.

The invitation letter for the emergency stakeholders meeting sent out by the leadership of the party in Ijebu Ode included deputy governors, past and serving local government chairmen, councilors, past and serving members of both the state and national assemblies, among others.
