Primate Ayodele Raises Alarm Over Foreign Control Of Nigeria’s Mineral Wealth
Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has expressed deep concern over what he described as the increasing exploitation of Nigeria’s mineral resources by foreign interests, warning that the nation’s continued dependence on borrowing could further endanger the economy.
Speaking during a prophetic and national address, Primate Ayodele lamented that foreigners are allegedly taking advantage of Nigeria’s vast mineral wealth while the country continues to struggle economically.
According to the cleric, Nigeria is richly blessed with natural resources capable of transforming the nation, but poor management, weak monitoring systems, and excessive dependence on foreign interests are preventing citizens from benefiting from the country’s wealth.
“It is painful that foreigners continue to mine Nigeria’s mineral resources while the country keeps borrowing money. If this continues, it will sink Nigeria’s economy,” Ayodele reportedly stated.
The outspoken Prophet warned that continuous accumulation of debt without corresponding economic productivity and infrastructural growth could place future generations under severe financial pressure.
He further urged the government to prioritize the protection and proper regulation of the mining sector, insisting that Nigeria must begin to harness its natural resources effectively for national development.
Primate Ayodele also advised authorities to reduce over-dependence on external loans and instead focus on policies that would encourage local production, industrial growth, job creation, and economic self-reliance.
According to him, failure to address the situation urgently could expose the nation to deeper economic hardship, inflation, unemployment, and social instability.
The cleric stressed that Nigeria possesses enormous economic potential but needs visionary leadership, accountability, and strategic management to overcome its challenges.
Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy by population, continues to rely heavily on borrowing for infrastructure and development projects, while concerns over illegal mining and foreign exploitation of mineral deposits have remained major national issues.
Primate Ayodele has consistently spoken on governance, economic policies, and national development, with many of his statements often attracting widespread public attention across the country.
