TV Lady Morayo Afolabi-Brown: How My Pastor-Lover Broke Our Relationship And My Heart
Media personality and television host Morayo Afolabi-Brown has revealed that a failed romantic relationship was the reason she left Harvesters International Christian Centre, where she once played a key leadership role.
Morayo is the daughter of the late firebrand Nigerian Constitutional Lawyer, Chief Alao Aka-Bashorun, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA, who died in 2005.
Later, she married a lawyer, Femi Afolabi-Brown in February 2011, and they have four children: A daughter (2012), twins, a daughter and a son (2014), and a son (2019).
Speaking during a recent conversation with the church’s Lead Pastor Bolaji Idowu, now happily married Afolabi-Brown said the resultant heartbreak made it difficult for her to remain in the congregation.
The Broadcaster disclosed that she was heavily involved in church activities at the time and served as the church’s Head Usher.
According to her, she was also in a relationship with a Minister in the church, and the breakup eventually changed her connection to the ministry.
Recounting the experience, Afolabi-Brown said the relationship ended when the Minister decided to break up with her.
She explained that continuing to attend services and ministry meetings became emotionally challenging because both of them remained active within the church community.
She noted that Pastor Idowu made efforts to encourage them and help manage the situation.
However, despite those attempts, she ultimately chose to leave the church because she felt unable to cope with the emotional impact of the breakup while remaining in the same environment.
In 2020, Afolabi-Brown was ranked 18th among the 25 most powerful women in journalism in Nigeria in a list compiled by Women in Journalism Africa.
