Nigerian Lady With Muslim Names Attempts Guinness World Record For Reading Bible Aloud In 144 Hours

A Nigerian, Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, is attempting to set a Guinness World Record by reading the entire Holy Bible aloud continuously for 144 hours (six days).

The name Habibat Salawudeen are Muslim names.

Habibat, a member of The Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt, said the marathon is a faith-driven initiative aimed at encouraging people to engage more deeply with the Bible.

The marathon reading, taking place at the Novotel Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is being conducted under Guinness World Records guidelines, with witnesses, professional audio equipment, and continuous monitoring in place.

According to updates from the organisers, Habibat has already surpassed the 100-hour milestone as she continues the endurance challenge, which is aimed at inspiring deeper engagement with the Scriptures among Christians.

The record attempt has attracted widespread attention, with supporters visiting the venue and following the event online to cheer her on.

If successfully completed and officially verified by Guinness World Records, the feat would become another notable achievement by a Nigerian on the global stage.

The attempt adds to Nigeria’s growing list of endurance record pursuits. In 2024, Guinness World Records recognised Samson Ajao of Ibadan for the longest marathon reading aloud after he completed a 215-hour reading challenge, surpassing the previous 124-hour record set by Kyrgyzstan’s Rysbai Isakov in 2022.
