Coalition For Good Governance, CGG, Prepares To Form Peter Obi Independent Presidential Campaign Council

...Urges G-100 To Pick Peter Obi As Consensus Presidential Candidate

As the historic coalition meeting of opposition political parties holds today Tuesday, the Coalition for Good Governance, CGG, has announced that it is making consultations nationwide to form the Peter Obi Independent Presidential Campaign Council, POIPCC.

The coalition also urged
opposition leaders in today’s G-100 meeting to choose Peter Obi as the sole opposition consensus candidate being the definitive factor required to rescue Nigeria and defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

This was contained in Press Release signed by CGG’s Director of Media and Communications, Comrade Mark Adebayo, earlier today in Abuja.

The release stated, among others, that:

“The Coalition for Good Governance, CGG, is currently making consultations nationwide in its preparation to constitute an independent campaign council for Peter Obi for the upcoming 2027 presidential election. CGG also urges the G-100 in today’s meeting to pick Mr. Peter Obi as the opposition consensus candidate in order for victory to be assured in next year’s election.

“Global political history demonstrates that fractured opposition movements invariably fail against entrenched ruling parties. To dislodge an incumbent administration backed by state machinery, the opposition must rally behind a single, popular alternative who commands organic, cross-national appeal. Peter Obi represents that indispensable figure for Nigeria.

“History provides clear blueprints for this exact political moment.

“For instance, the Kenyan Example (2002) is a political pedagogical precedent to learn from. For decades, the ruling KANU party dominated Kenya due to a fragmented opposition. It was only when perennial candidate Oginga Odinga’s political faction and other key leaders sublimated their personal ambitions to back Mwai Kibaki under the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) that the 40-year dictatorship was finally defeated.

“We have the Senegalese Precedent (2000 & 2024) as a recent example. In 2000, opposition leaders united entirely behind Abdoulaye Wade to end decades of Socialist Party rule. More recently, the absolute alignment of opposition forces behind Bassirou Diomaye Faye prevented the ruling coalition from splitting the vote, securing a decisive first-round victory.

“The Malaysian Breakthrough (2018) was thought impossible until the opposition achieved a formidable consensus. The seemingly invincible Barisan Nasional coalition, which had ruled for over 60 years, was only defeated when fierce political rivals put aside decades of personal animosity to form the Pakatan Harapan coalition under a unified banner.

“The data and political reality of Nigeria today mirror these historical lessons. A divided ballot between the two major opposition figures will guarantee total opposition failure and hand the incumbent an effortless path to victory.

“Therefore, CGG states clearly and without ambiguity that for this coalition to succeed, elder statesman and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar must gracefully step down and endorse Peter Obi.

“This is not a request to diminish any leader’s legacy, but a patriotic call to acknowledge the shifting political demographic. Peter Obi holds the trust of the youth, the working class, and millions of disillusioned citizens who demand a structural break from the past.

“We urge all leaders present at today’s meeting to choose the nation over personal ambition. Unity behind Peter Obi is the only viable formula to birth a new Nigeria in 2027.”
