Cele Evangelist Allegedly Beats Wife To Death And Commits Suicide By Throwing Himself Under Speeding Vehicle On Highway In Ogun

An early morning domestic fight by a couple in Akinode/Ibogun, Ogun State, has reportedly claimed the lives of a Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Evangelist and his wife between 3am and 6am on Monday, August 25, 2026.

Community sources said that Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya, Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Dews of Heaven Parish ( Iri Orun), and his wife, Adenike Odukoya, got into a domestic dispute that reportedly escalated into a physical fight.

Family sources noted that the couple had a long history of marital disputes that had previously required intervention from relatives and local law enforcement.

During the last incident, Mrs. Odukoya was said to have sustained serious injuries to her head and subsequently became unresponsive.

The precise circumstances surrounding her injuries have not been independently established.

Following the incident, Evangelist Odukoya reportedly fled the residence.

The couple’s son was said to have alerted neighbours, prompting members of the local Community Development Association (CDA) and other residents to rush to the scene in an attempt to render assistance.

The neighbours found her in a pool of blood.

Mrs. Odukoya was, however, reportedly found unresponsive and already dead.

At approximately 6a.m. the same day, information reportedly reached the community that the body of an unidentified man had been discovered around Iyana Coker, Ifo axis of the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway.

CDA representatives who proceeded to the location reportedly identified the deceased as Evangelist Odukoya.

Some eyewitness accounts around the scene alleged that the Evangelist had deliberately entered the path of an approaching speeding vehicle in a suspected act of suicide, although the exact circumstances remain under official review

The matter was reported to the police who subsequently commenced the appropriate investigative and procedural processes surrounding the deaths.

Mrs. Odukoya was reportedly buried at the family residence at approximately 2:00 p.m. on August 25, while relatives of the late Evangelist were said to be working with the relevant authorities toward the formal release of his remains for burial.

The Ogun State Police Command, through its Deputy Spokesperson ASP Opeyemi Oluborode, confirmed that an active investigation was underway to establish the exact sequence of events leading up to both fatalities.

Family members and church officials have since laid the couple to rest.

Mrs. Odukoya was buried at the family residence shortly after the incident, while Evangelist Odukoya was buried following final religious rites by fellow Christian clerics.
