Man City’s Perfect Season Soiled With Loss To Aston Villa 2-1
Aston Villa handed Manchester City their first loss of the Premier League season as Nicolas Jackson starred with a superb brace either side of the inevitable Erling Haaland goal.
Villa started at a furious pace and took the lead in the sixth minute, as John McGinn seized on a loose Marc Guéhi touch and played in Jackson, who turned Elliot Anderson inside out before smashing one into the roof of the net.
After this, City got their foot on the ball, and they created plenty of chances of their own, most notably when Illiman Ndiaye clattered the far post with a curler.
Haaland, who’d been invisible up until then, then got them level in the second half after a quick freekick allowed Ndiaye to stand one up at the back post for the big Norwegian to head home from close range.
Villa, though, regained the lead within minutes when newly introduced Ibrahim Mbaye teed up Jackson for a quick finish from the edge of the box that took Gianluigi Donnarumma by surprise as the ball squirmed under the Italian and into the net./ESPN
