Actor Pete Edochie: I’m Really Sick; I Ask God To Take My Life Rather Than Me Being A Burden To My Family
“I just keep asking God, ‘You are the Author of life. Whenever you feel it’s time for me to go, just take me, don’t let me bother the people who are around me. Just take me.’”
Nigerian Nollywood legendary Actor, Pete Edochie, 79, made this declaration openly last week, while bemoaning his state of ill-health, saying that he already found it difficult to walk.
Edochie spoke in a video, during a visiting spell to sick Ghanaian fellow veteran Actor Emmanuel Armah in Accra, the capital of the West African country.
Praying for Armah’s speedy recovery, the Nigerian gave his host an undisclosed amount to assist in medical care.
The Nigerian legend also spoke about his own state of health.
Edochie lamented: “Sitting down here, I’m not very well myself. Walking is a problem for me now, but I still have hope that I will recover myself.
“Sometimes I get up, and parts of my body are swollen. After some time, it goes down again. Like my hand is swollen now.”
He then spoke about his prayer for God not to prolong his suffering to the state he would become burdensome to his loved ones.
“It is my belief that you will recover one day,” he told Armah.
