ADC Leader Owokoniran Blasts Tinubu Govt Over Unresolved Oyo Pupils’ Abduction 12 Days After

The National Vice Chairman, South-West Zone of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, felicitates with Nigerian children on the occasion of the International Children’s Day.

Owokoniran, however, expressed deep sadness and outrage over the recent attack, abduction and captivity of school children and teachers in Oyo State.

“It is unfortunate that on the occasion of this Children’s Day, over 40 children remain with kidnappers, crying, hungry and afraid, 12 days after they were captured from their school in Oyo State,” he lamented. “Yet President Bola Ahmed Tinubu carries on as if everything were in order and a tragedy has not befallen this nation. Israel would go to war to free such a number of its citizens!”

He described the situation as a national disgrace and a tragic reflection of the worsening insecurity ravaging the country, especially with the case remaining unresolved 12 days after the terrorists abducted the teachers and children.

He stated that it was heartbreaking and unacceptable that Nigerian children could no longer attend school without fear of kidnapping, violence and death.

Owokoniran said: “A nation where children and teachers are constantly abducted from schools is a nation under serious threat. The continued attacks on educational institutions across Nigeria clearly show that insecurity has overwhelmed the system while millions of Nigerians continue to suffer fear, hardship and uncertainty.”

He accused the Federal Government of failing in its constitutional responsibility to adequately protect the lives and property of citizens, especially innocent children and teachers whose only mission is education and nation building.

Owokoniran further lamented that economic hardship, poverty, unemployment and poor governance had contributed immensely to the growing insecurity and criminality across the country.

He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to immediately intensify efforts towards rescuing all abducted victims in Oyo State and across Nigeria, while also putting in place lasting measures to secure schools and communities nationwide.

The ADC South-West leader warned that no nation could build a prosperous future when children were denied safe access to education because of fear and insecurity.

He urged leaders at all levels to place greater priority on the welfare, protection and future of Nigerian children, describing them as the hope and foundation of a better nation
