ADC South-West Leaders Gun For National Secretary Aregbesola’s Sack Over Allegation Of Fraud
Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South West of Nigeria have asked the party’s national leadership to immediately remove Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as Interim National Secretary.
They accused him of engaging in brazen constitutional violations which are threatening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Via a petition dated 28 July 2026 and addressed to the National Chairman, they declared that they resolved during an emergency meeting in Ibadan that Aregbesola’s conduct had plunged ADC into needless crises.
According to them, Aregbesola:
* Created a parallel structure across South West states named “Omoluabi Progressives”,
* Begun parading officers of the splinter group as legitimate ADC executives from ward to state level,
* Used his office to interfere in ADC’s candidate selection process,
* Had on the last day for uploading National Assembly candidates, “colluded with some cohorts within INEC” to remove duly-elected ADC candidates who emerged from INEC-monitored primaries, and replaced them with members of his Omoluabi Progressives who never even purchased nomination forms,
* Caused crises in Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states by usurping functions of the ADC National Organising Secretary in appointing parallel primary election committees and submitting them to INEC.
According to the South West ADC leaders, “Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is not fit to hold the position of Interim National Secretary. His continued stay in office will spell doom for the party.”
The petitioners demanded that the ADC leadership review Aregbesola’s appointment and relieve him of his position, urging it to present a new, “competent, loyal and patriotic” replacement.
The petition was signed by:
* Ogun State Secretary Olusoji Adebiyi.
* Osun State Acting Chairman Abideen Okanlawon.
* Osun State Youth Leader Adesola Akintunde.
* Oyo State Chairman Yinka Olona.
* Oyo State member Adebimpe Adelowo.
* Ekiti State Chairman Ilesanmi Olaiya.
* etc.
The petition was copied to the ADC National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), the party’s 2027 Presidential Candidate, the Vice-Presidential Candidate, and the National Legal Adviser.
