His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo Olu, Governor of Lagos State.
Hon. Commissioner for Health, Lagos State.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) acknowledges the Lagos State Government’s visible efforts toward healthcare development.
However, the true state of the health sector paints a more distressing picture for millions of Lagosians.
Many citizens still struggle to access affordable and quality medical care. Public hospitals remain overstretched, under-equipped, and often without essential drugs. In several general hospitals, patients are made to buy everything from syringes to gloves before receiving attention.
Even more alarming is the continuous unavailability of space in general hospitals, especially during emergencies, which has led to several avoidable deaths. Families rush their loved ones from one hospital to another, only to be told, “no bed space.” These tragedies reveal a health system on the brink, one that is failing those it was meant to save.
Doctors and nurses continue to leave the state and the country due to poor working conditions and lack of motivation, leaving hospitals understaffed and overburdened. The rising cost of healthcare services further pushes low-income families to self-medication or unlicensed clinics, endangering more lives.
Your Excellency, true health development is not in press releases or new signboards, it is in saving lives, restoring confidence, and ensuring that no Lagosian dies from a treatable condition or childbirth complication.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) calls for urgent intervention in the following areas:
- Revamp and properly equip all general hospitals and emergency units across the state.
 - Recruit, train, and retain medical personnel through better welfare and incentives.
 - Prioritize community health centres to decongest tertiary hospitals.
 - Ensure steady and transparent health funding to rebuild public trust.

Lagos cannot lead Africa with weak health foundations.
African Democratic Congress (ADC) believes in a Lagos where hospitals bring healing not heartbreak.
It is time to rise above propaganda and embrace policies that truly save lives. Lagosians must unite to support ADC, the party committed to people centered governance and the restoration of dignity, health, and hope for every citizen.
