APC, PDP Are No Match For Me; I Will Not Step Down –ADC House Of Assembly Candidate for Ado-Odo/Ota Constituency

Hon. Adeshina Adeola Jamiu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency in Ogun State, has declared that he has no intention of stepping down for candidates of either the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, insisting that neither party poses a threat to his ambition.

Speaking in an interview with our correspondent, Jamiu said his primary motivation for contesting was to serve the people and bring meaningful development and improved infrastructure to the constituency.

The ADC candidate maintained that no amount of money could persuade him to surrender his political ambition, stressing that those who had known him over the years understood his capacity and commitment to service.

“Given the kind of person I am, there is no reason for me to step down for anybody.

I am genuinely committed to serving the country in which God has placed me.

“If you look at the political platform we are contesting on, we are not in government and do not have access to government funds.

If my intention were to make money, I would not have chosen this political platform; But because things are not going well and we genuinely want to serve the people, there is nobody I am willing to step down for,” he said.

He added that the emergence of APC and PDP candidates in the race had not created any fear or concern for him, noting that the ultimate decision rested with the electorate.

“Political parties are expected to present candidates, and we have APC and PDP candidates among us. But when I look at the calibre of people contesting, I have no fear whatsoever, what matters now is the decision of the people.

The political parties they represent are not my concern; what matters is their capacity and qualifications.

My priority is to serve the people,” he stated.

Explaining why he decided to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Representatives, Jamiu said his decision was informed by the need to become part of the decision-making process rather than continue to criticise governance from outside.

“When you look at the situation of our country, staying away from the decision-making process means refusing to contribute. We cannot remain at home and complain that those in government are not doing well.

“We must also go there, understand what is happening and find out why our communities are in their present condition. We have nowhere else to run to; this is the country God has given us.

“It is unacceptable to watch things deteriorate continuously under successive administrations without making an effort to change the situation,” he said.

Jamiu also outlined some of his development priorities if elected, emphasising that his vision was to bring government closer to the people and ensure that they enjoy the benefits of democratic governance.

“My vision is to bring government closer to the people so they can experience the positive impact of governance.

I want to facilitate development and ensure that the needs of ordinary residents are addressed.

My involvement in politics is not about personal recognition but about defending the interests of my people,” he explained.

He identified education as a major priority, promising to explore employment opportunities for fresh graduates within the limits of his capacity. He also pledged to support artisans, traders and small business owners to strengthen their economic activities.

On healthcare, he promised to promote access to quality medical services for residents, while also giving attention to environmental sanitation and community development.

The ADC candidate further expressed concern over the deplorable condition of roads in areas such as Ijoko and Sango, noting that several streets had become difficult for motorists to navigate, while many motorcycle passengers frequently suffered accidents because of the poor road conditions.

He assured residents that rehabilitation of the affected roads would form part of his priorities, promising to keep constituents informed about his activities and progress.

Jamiu concluded by appealing to eligible voters across Ota 1, Ota 2, Ota 3, Sango, Ijoko, Ilogbo, Iju and Atan to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote for him as their representative in the House of Representatives under the ADC platform.

He assured the electorate that they would not regret giving him the mandate to represent them.
