Bauchi State’s Governor Bala Mohammed has announced a 24-hour curfew over Katagum Local Government Area in the wake of violence following citizens’ participation in the “End Bad Governance” protest.
The curfew aims to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of residents and property in the affected area.
Violence has variously broken out in the area, leaving in its wake the destruction of public property, theft, and injuries, although no death has been recorded.
Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, announced the government’s decision via a statement to journalists in Bauchi.
According to the statement, the Governor had instructed all security agencies to take swift action to address the situation, to apprehend those responsible and to bring them to justice.
The Governor also called on law-abiding citizens to support security efforts during this challenging time, urging the community to cooperate with authorities to restore peace and order in Katagum.
