Police are investigating the killing of 10-year-old Israel Ogunleye, allegedly strangled to death by his age mate, Evbota Ezekiel, after a football playfield scuffle in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the matter was under investigation.
Late Israel’s father was said to have reported to police that his son was playing football with some boys at Oluwole Street in the Powerline area of Ejigbo Council, where his mother’s shop was situated.
An argument reportedly broke out, and Ezekiel allegedly held Israel by the neck and strangled him to death.
Police authorities immediately moved to the scene of the incident where they found the boy’s body.
They quickly moved it to the General Hospital, Isolo, where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
The body was then transferred to the mortuary where a post-mortem is expected to be done.
