BREAKING: Another Notable Katsina VIP Killed Despite N500m Ransom Paid
Barely two days after the tragic death of General Rabe Abubakar in bandits’ captivity, another group of terrorists in Katsina State have killed Alhaji Bala Sanin Kawo, a prominent businessman and philanthropist in Dandume Local Government Area of the state.
The incident comes barely two days after the death of retired Army General Abubakar Rabe, who was also kidnapped and allegedly died in captivity.
Kawo was widely regarded as one of the most successful and influential businessmen in Northern Nigeria.
Known for his contributions to agriculture, community development, and humanitarian causes, he earned the respect and admiration of many across the region.
According to reports, he was abducted by suspected bandits who later demanded a ransom for his release.
Despite the payment of more than N500 million by his family and associates, the kidnappers allegedly went ahead to kill him.
His death has sparked fresh concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Northern Nigeria, where kidnapping for ransom continues to pose a major threat to lives and livelihoods.
He was killed by the bandits some hours after receiving N500 million ransom from his relatives in their den.
Reports said he was abducted by suspected bandits some weeks ago and that the gunmen later demanded a ransom for his release.
It was learnt that the amount was gathered from family members and associates but the hoodlums still went ahead to kill the man after receiving the ransom.
Dandume Local Government Area is one of the nine frontline areas where communities hardly sleep with their two eyes closed for the past eight years.
Recently, Governor Umar Dikko Radda agreed to dialogue with repentant bandits for peaceful co-existence across the state.
He urged the bandits to embrace reformation and refrain from committing any form of crime and settle down at their normal homes, saying they should come forward for the resettlement package programmes initiated by his administration.
To this end, Governor Radda commissioned 520 units of housing for IDPs in Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
