The Federal High Court in Abuja today Wednesday remanded the former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, in Kuje Correctional Centre.

Last December the EFCC declared the Power Minister under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government (1999-2003) wanted in connection with a $6 billion purported corruption involving the Mambilla hydropower project.

Former President Obasanjo charged him with illegally awarding the project’s contract without the approval of the Federal Executive Council’s (FEC), something Agunloye had always denied.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is arraigning Agunloye for alleged fraud in the Mambilla Electricity Project.

The Accused was brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja and he pleaded not guilty.

Despite Agunloye’s plea of innocence, presiding Justice Donatus Okorowu ordered him remanded in custody at the Kuje Prisons.
