BREAKING: Cubana Chief Priest, EFCC To Settle Naira Abuse Case Out Of Court

Lagos Socialite and social media personality, Cubana Chief Priest (real name Pascal Okechukwu), and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) have agreed to settle out of court.

Expectedly, they will return to present the terms of the settlement on 5th June to the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, for the continuation of the nightclub owner for alleged naira abuse.

When the case came up for mention today Thursday, his lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chikaosolu Ojukwu, disclosed to the trial Judge, Justice Kehinde Ogundare,  that parties had applied that the matter be settled pursuant to the provisions of section 14(2) of the EFCC Act.

EFCC’ prosecutor, Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari, confirmed the position as stated by the defence counsel and told the court that the Commission was still considering the application.

Following this confirmation, the defence counsel then applied for a withdrawal of the preliminary objection and with no objections from the prosecution and the court granted same.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on April 16 filed a three-count charge against Cubana Chief Priest over alleged naira abuse.

He was arraigned the following day at court in Lagos and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Judge, thereafter granted him bail in the sum of N10 million with two responsible sureties in like sum.
