After my months of speculation, foundation chieftain and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially resigned from his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) finally.
He indicated his exit in a letter, dated July 14, to his ward branch in Jada, Adamawa State.
In his letter of resignation, Atiku hinged his decision to resign on the current trajectory of the PDP which he believes diverges from the fundamental principles the party stood for.
His exit from the party is coming a few weeks after he joined members of the coalition group to adopt the African Democratic Congress ADC as the vehicle against the ruling APC.
The 78-year-old politician now has had a political career spanning:
* People’s Democratic party (1998–2006);
* Action Congress (2006–2007);
* People’s Democratic party (2007–2014);
* All Progressives Congress (2014–2017);
* People’s Democratic Party (2017-2025);
* African Democratic Congress (2017-2025).
