Buhari’s Aviation Minister Sirika, Daughter Granted ₦100m Bail

Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, his daughter Fatimah, and two others have secured bail at a Federal High Court in Abuja in a case in connection with a botched Nigerian Air project.

The court granted them bail in the sum of ₦100 million with two sureties.

Sirika appeared in court with his three co-defendants, his daughter, Fatima; Jalal Hamma; and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, on charges of laundering over N2.7 billion.

They are facing charges of contract fraud amounting to N2.7 billion at the Aviation Ministry.

The former Minister was arraigned for trial for the first time, before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has slammed six counts on the former minister, his daughter, and two others.

The anti-graft agency accused Sirika of conferring undue advantage on some entities between April 2022 and March 2023 in Abuja.

The embattled minister was also alleged of abuse of his office by awarding consultancy N1.3bn contract for the Nigerian Air Start-up to Tianero Nigeria Limited.
