Chief Of Army Staff Gen. Lagbaja, Wife, Top Officers Storm Ibadan For Pa Adesina’s Funeral

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja NAM, on Saturday, graced the funeral and burial of late Engineer Francis Kolawole Adesina (JP), to commiserate with a top military officer’s family on the demise of its father.

The deceased was the father of Major General Gbemiga Adesina, who is the current Corps Commander Signals (CCS) – Army.

Okoye reports that on his arrival, the COAS was received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Obinna Onubogu.

The GOC led him (COAS) to the Methodist Church of Nigeria Diocese, Agodi, Agodi Circuit Cathedral of Light, Agodi, Ibadan, where the event took place on 26 April 2024.

During the sermon, the Presbyter, Very Rev Dr Sunday O Adegbola, noted that Engineer Francis Adesina, was a strong and faithful member of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Agodi, Ibadan.

He confirmed that the late Pa Adesina’s contributions to the growth and development of the church were enormous and would remain well appreciated and indelible in the minds of all church members.

Similarly, he appreciated the CCS and the entire Adesina family, for the good care they gave to their father while he was alive, praying that GOD rewards them appropriately.

The COAS was accompanied by top military officers from Army Headquarters (AHQ) and other Services Headquarters.

Also in attendance, were the National President, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, Chairperson, NAOWA, 2 Division Chapter, Mrs Adaobi Onubogu, retired military officers as well as other friends and well wishers of the family.

The church service was followed by interment at the church cemetery.

Subsequently, all invited guests were led to Ibadan Conference Centre, where they were well entertained.

The event was another opportunity for the Adesinas to celebrate and appreciate their loving father and hero – Pa Adesina, who shared with them a fulfilled, memorable and successful life.

The presence of family, friends and well wishers, added glamour to the colourful occasion.
