Communiqué By The South-West Elders ADC Committee Raises Concern On Rifts, Seeks Reconciliation
The South-West Elders Committee of the party met in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday, 5 July 2026, to review developments in Ogun and Oyo States and assess the overall state of the party in the South-West.
After extensive deliberations, the Committee expressed concern over internal disputes, parallel structures, and post-primary disagreements, noting that these challenges have weakened party cohesion and require urgent resolution.
The Committee reaffirmed that reconciliation, strict adherence to the party Constitution, internal democracy, fairness, and discipline remain the only sustainable path to restoring unity and strengthening the party ahead of future political engagements.
On Ogun State, the Committee urged the National Leadership to resolve the governorship nomination dispute strictly in accordance with the party Constitution, due process, valid court decisions, and established internal democratic procedures.
On Oyo State, the Committee commended the progress already made in the reconciliation process and constituted a five-member Reconciliation Committee to engage the remaining contending governorship aspirants andl facilitate a lasting resolution.
The Committee called on the National Leadership to provide impartial and principled leadership in addressing disputes across the South-West and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and constitutional order within the party.
The meeting ended with a unanimous resolve by all participants to work collectively towards strengthening the party, restoring confidence among members, and positioning it for success in the 2027 general elections.
