Cubana Chief Priest: Why I’m Dumping Peter Obi For Bola Tinubu
Socialite, nightclub owner and social media influencer, Cubana Chief Priest, says his much-publicised association with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) steps from his belief that the most effective way to support detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu was from within the reigning government rather than from the opposition.
He noted that during the last general election, he worked for Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in his capacity as a Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
“Last election, as Special Adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he added.
His comment on Wednesday came after social critic, VeryDarkMan, slammed Cubana for working with a political support group for Tinubu’s re-election.
Responding via a video posted on his page, VDM shared a clip showing members of the support group which included Chief Priest, meeting with Imo State’s Governor Hope Uzodinma, who is also a member of the APC.
VDM in his video referred to a post Chief Priest made in November 2025 that President Tinubu and APC would not secure up to 10, 000 votes in the South East during the 2027 presidential election if Nnamdi Kanu remained in prison because the prisoner was the Supreme Leader of the zone.
Reacting to VDM’s callout, ChiefPriest in a post shared on his Instastories, said that he cannot help Nnamdi Kanu if he remains in the opposition.
“I no fit help Maazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC,” he said. “My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG Renewed Hope.”
Cubana Chief Priest revealed that despite his past political choices, his current stance is firmly with the APC and President Bola Tinubu.
He also announced his intention to contest for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives in 2027 under the APC platform, describing his political ambition as a deliberate move to influence change from within the system.
