Nigerian Business Billionaire, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has immortalised the late CEO of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, by naming the road leading to the new oil refinery after the late Banker who died in a US helicopter crash.
Wigwe was Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, a Nigerian financial institution.
While paying homage to Wigwe at a programme by professionals on Monday, Dangote announced in his eight-minute long tribute: “To immortalise my beloved friend, my brother, and my mentee, I have actually decided to name a major refinery and petrochemical road, out of the 120 kilometers, the biggest road will now be named ‘Herbert Wigwe.”
Wigwe died alongside with his wife, son, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, in the helicopter crash near the Nevada border in the United States on February 10, 2024.
He had been the Deputy Managing Director at Access Bank from 2002 to 2014 when he became the Group Managing Director and CEO.
