Music superstar Davido has thrown his weight behind Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate in the next Saturday’s September 21 Edo State election.
David Adeleke, whose late mum, Mrs. Imade Adeleke, hailed from Edo State, on Sunday took to his Instagram stories to make the endorsement.
In a post featuring Dr. Ighodalo’s photograph from a newspaper publication, the Afrobeats singer wrote the caption: “The next governor of my mother’s homeland.”
Other celebrities who have voiced their support for the PDP Governorship Candidate have included: Singer Banky W and his wife Nollywood Actress Adesua Etomi; Actress Etinosa, Rex Osagie and Nollywood Actor and producer Charles Onojie.
The Edo governorship elections will take place on September 21, 2024.
Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor of the state, is rounding off his second and final term in office.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said 17 political parties have presented candidates seeking to succeed Obaseki.
Olumide Akpata is the flag-bearer for the Labour Party (LP), and Monday Okpebholo for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
