Deputy Gov Aiyedatiwa Sworn In As Ondo Governor, Makes First Appointments

Ondo State’s Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the substantive Governor following the demise of his principal, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

Akeredolu died in Germany in the early hours of Wednesday after suffering prostrate cancer.

Aiyedatiwa’s swearing in was conducted by Justice Olusegun Odusola, the Chief Judge of the state.

Present was the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, and legislator s.

Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, and the state Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ade Adetimehin, were also present, alongside commissioners and other dignitaries.

In his speech, Aiyedatiwa said the death of Akeredolu was painful recalling his roles in the formation of the South-West security network, Amotekun.

Aiyedatiwa said: “The death of our governor and leader was a devasting shock to the people of the state. It’s a colossal loss to the state and Nigeria.”

He condoled with the Governor’s family, the traditional ruler of Owo, the late Governor’s birthplace, and the people of the state.

Aiyedatiwa immediately appointed Ebenezer Adeniyan as his Chief Press Secretary, CPS.

Other appointments announced in a statement by Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Omojuwa Olusegun, in Akure, include:

** Smart Omodunbi Jnr.- Special Assistant to the Governor (Political Matters),

** Abire Sunday Olugbenga (New Media) Special Assistant to the Governor,

** Miss Motunrayo Oyedele (Photography) Special Assistant to the Governor and

** Dr. Temitayo Iperepolu (Domestic and Government House), Special Assistant to the Governor.
