Nollywood Actor and Lagos Lawmaker, Honourable Desmond Elliott, tried in vain to hide his tears as lawmakers gathered to bid farewell to Hon. Mojisola Meranda who stepped aside as Speaker of the Lagos State House Of Assembly earlier today Monday, March 3.

In the emotional session at the Lagos State House of Assembly, glowing tributes poured from fellow lawmakers for Meranda, who replaced Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker some seven weeks ago.

Obasa was immediately re-elected to his role as Speaker.

The lawmakers then re-elected Meranda as the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency I, resigned as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly seven weeks after being elected into office.

The lawmakers commended her leadership style and for bringing peace to the Lagos State House of Assembly.

They also commended her strength and humility for obeying the rules and regulations of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Meranda emerged speaker of the House following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa, who was the immediate past Speaker of the house.

Her colleagues praised for her contributions to legislative progress in the state.

Visibly overwhelmed with emotion, Elliott joined other lawmakers in expressing deep appreciation for Meranda’s leadership and service.

The session was preceded by a meeting outside the Assembly chambers involving ousted Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker Mojisola Meranda, and other lawmakers.
