Endorsement Of Yayi: United Front For A Better Ogun State.

Recent reports indicate that stakeholders and leading figures within the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ogun State have mutually agreed to endorse Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, representing Ogun West, as the sole candidate for the party in the 2027 Governorship election. This is a rare consensus that is expected to promote progress and unity in Ogun State.
According to my research, this marks the first time in Ogun State’s history that nearly all former governors have unified behind a single candidate, despite their varied interests and differences.
The decision to nominate Senator Adeola was announced during a strategic state caucus meeting chaired by the party’s chairman, Yemi Sanusi, at the party secretariat in Abeokuta.
The meeting was attended by Governor Dapo Abiodun, former governors Chief Olusegun Osoba, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and Senator Gbenga Daniel, despite his reported suspension from the party since August of last year.
During the event, Governor Abiodun declared Senator Adeola as the party’s consensus gubernatorial candidate and called on other aspirants to unite behind him, emphasising the importance of party cohesion over individual ambitions.
The announcement sparked celebration among party members, who chanted, “Yayi ni jo, Yayi ni jare.”
In his acceptance speech, Senator Adeola expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence, promising he would uphold their trust and not let them down.
From 1999 to 2003, Chief Olusegun Osoba served as governor under the Alliance for Democracy, succeeded by Otunba Genga Daniel from 2003 to 2011 under the People’s Democratic Party, and later Senator Ibikunle Amosun from 2011 to 2019 under the All Progressives Congress. Since 2019, Prince Dapo Abiodun, also of the APC, has been governor—and all these leaders are now members of the APC.
Indications suggest that Ogun State’s APC political leaders have united to set a course for focused leadership aimed at correcting past anomalies. Since democracy returned to Nigeria in 1999, Ogun West (Yewa zone) has yet to produce a governor, fostering a collective push for equity, justice, and fairness. Senator Adeola is fortunate to be a leading voice advocating for the people’s interests. These are committed efforts of the stakeholders to break the jinx. It is commendable. To the people of Ogun West, this is your own project, to make it a reality, everyone must rally around him and his team to actualise the mission. Past Governors have tried to correct the wrongs but the time is now to let your son be the one to bring governance closer to the people.
While the primary elections are likely settled for the gubernatorial election, I urge the people of Ogun State to support Senator Adeola in realising his ambitious policies and programmes. With INEC soon lifting the ban on campaigns, everyone must participate in the electoral process for a better, and prosperous Ogun State.
In fact, Senator Adeola’s record of performance and achievements is notable—ranging from empowering farmers, small business owners, petty traders, women, and youth, to providing scholarships, GCE, and JAMB forms for indigent students, from his time in the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho, to the House of Representatives for Alimosho, to Lagos West, and now in Ogun West.
He has inspired residents from other districts to ask how he managed to empower thousands, often holding town hall programmes as dividends of democracy for Ogun State. His proven performance has earned him endorsements from key stakeholders. Understanding where the people’s pain points lie, Senator Adeola is committed to alleviating their suffering.
With your support for his victory, Senator Adeola will engage community, religious, traditional leaders, youths, and women to make Ogun State greater. Operating an open-door policy, he ensures accessible representation, capturing the aspirations of his people. Senator Adeola symbolises renewed hope and a brighter future for generations to come.
