Ex-Minister Fani-Kayode Calls El-Rufai A Monster Who Persecuted Christians As Governor

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has labelled the former Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, a monster over the alleged persecution of Christians in Southern Kaduna during his administration’s eight years.

Fani-Kayode accused El-Rufai of hatred towards Christians with a plot to destroy their faith.

The current Ambassador to South Africa made this known while speaking at a meeting with the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (North), Rev. Joseph Hayab, and his entire Executive Council together with the Chairmen, Secretaries and Youth Leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He described the current Governor Uba Sani’s arrival and intervention as evidence of God’s power.

”But why am I saying this, that a monster and when I say monster, I mean what I said, a man that hates believers; that seeks to destroy and kill believers and wipe out our faith, was in power for eight good years.

“God was just watching him. Then God brought his right-hand man to come in; set everything right; make everything fair; bring in the believers; and also teach him a lesson for his life. Is that not the power of God.” He said.

Fani-Kayode further accused El-Rufai of terrorising Christians in Southern Kaduna.

“That guy terorrised Southern Kaduna for eight years. He terrorised Christians for eight years. A man that I thought and many of us believed was friends of those who are Christians.

“Christians were killed, Christians were slaughtered. Christian communities were denied their allocation and denied development and Christian leaders were insulted behind closed doors. We opposed them and kept saying we must not fight, no violence, but pray and God heard our prayers,” he said.

“He brought in somebody that was extremely close to him that I know very well. That is Uba Sani.

“One thing I know about Uba is that he is a fair-minded person and when it comes to issues of faith, I can say it anywhere, anytime, anyday,.that he has no discriminatory tendencies at all.

“One day, Uba called me. He was his Special Adviser. He said ‘Femi why are you doing this?’ I said, ‘Uba, you know me. When I say I will fight, I will fight you bitterly unless they kill me.

“He said, Please don’t worry, things will change.’ And we prayed. Eventually, Uba came me and what happened, they started fighting.

“One day I called Uba and said listen, “Why are you doing this to El-Rufai? He is out of power and you are in power now. You are being fair to Christians. You’ve balanced the equation. You are doing the right thing.’

“He said, ‘Mr. Femi, you have no idea the sort of things that guy had in mind for members of the Christian faith and also even for Muslims in his state,” he said.

Fani-Kayode also claimed being told about how El-Rufai allegedly insulted his Christian Deputy over his faith.

“‘He said you were not there where we have cabinet meetings and Bantex who I believe was his Deputy Governor, he would insult him for his faith openly there.’

“He said, ‘Femi, you know we had to put up with it. But all of us will sometimes leave the room crying, that, how can this man be so wicked?

“There are so many things that he told me. But I will just leave it at that,” Fani-Kayode said.
