Two men that local said were Fulani herders have killed a 16-year-old girl after a failed rape attempt in Emure-Ekiti area of the South-West state.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the State Police Command (PPRO), SP Sunday Abutu, said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder.
The slain girl and her brother were on their way to the farm, when they were waylaid by two strangers.
The brother fled from the scene.
However, the teenage girl was killed for allegedly resisting attempts by the men to rape her.
The PPRO promised to provide further details later.
