The head of Usmanu Village in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, HRH Auwal, has been murdered by unknown gunmen.
Also, Comrade Daniel Umaru Lagi, the kidnapped father of the former Attorney-General of Nasarawa State, Innocent Lagi, has been reportedly killed by his abductors.
Late Comrade Lagi was kidnapped on 28th May and might have been killed for refusing to have ransom paid to secure his release.
Mourning residents said the unfortunate killing of Auwal happened Sunday night in Taraba State.
The attackers invaded in a hail of sporadic gunshots that scared away inhabitants of the community before they attacked the home of the village head and killed him.
Chairman of Karim-Lamido LGA, Bitrus Danjos, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
He noted that the news of the monarch’s death came as a shock to him, especially since the deceased’s younger brother was also killed a few months ago.
He said: “I was called from Usmanu Village that the village head, HRH Auwal, was killed by unknown gunmen.
“The people in the village have deserted the community while running for their lives.
“As we speak, security agencies are in the village to ensure calm and normalcy return.”
The body of late Comrade Daniel Umaru Lagi, the father of the former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Nasarawa State, Innocent Lagi, killed by the unidentified gunmen, is said to have been deposited in one of the hospitals in Akwanga Local Government Area of the Nasarawa State.
It was gathered that one of the suspects have been reportedly arrested in the area while soldiers were combing the bush in search of the suspected abductors-turned- killers of late Comrade Daniel Umaru Lagi.
