President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received a cheque for N750 million from the Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.

They made the presentation during the President’s breaking of the Ramadan fast with members of the House of Representatives at the Presidential Villa Abuja on Monday, giving a unique twist to the event that has seen Tinubu host groups and individuals from different segments.

Breaking of fast is an Aso Rock tradition kept by Tinubu’s predecessors.

The donors said it was the Green Chamber’s contribution made towards supporting the Nigerian leader’s philanthropic works for vulnerable citizens.

On behalf of the members of the Green Chamber, both the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, handed over the model cheque to the Nigerian President.

According to House Speaker Abbas, the donation came through members contributing 50 percent of their salaries since July 2024.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila also attended the Iftar.
