An Italian-born former Catholic Reverend Father has given up his vows to marry a Kenyan woman in a colourful traditional ceremony.

Father Sandro Ferretto once served as a Catholic parish priest in Kasiela and Mochongoi in Baringo County, Kenya.

It was reportedly while conducting mission work in the region that he met a young woman named Sharon Jepng’ok, a Tugen woman who is also the daughter of former Councillor John Wendot.

The encounter blossomed into a romantic relationship and Father Sandro Ferretto stepped away from the priesthood to pursue the relationship and build a family.

He has now married Sandra in a traditional ceremony at Seretion Village in Kasiela, Baringo South.

The wedding reportedly took place right in the parish where he once served.

The colourful traditional ceremony brought together relatives and members of the local community, with Ferretto participating in Tugen cultural traditions as he formally joined his bride’s family.
