Katsina State has added Friday 12th April ,2024 as a public holiday for the Muslim Eid-el-Fitir festivities.
In a statement signed by Governor Dikko Radda, on Tuesday, it was announced that the government had provided one additional day for the holiday, originally slated for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Following the failure to sight the new moon earlier in the week, the Federal Government had extended the holiday to Tuesday and Wednesday work-free days to Thursday.
The statement was titled, “Ed-Fitr: Gov Dikko Radda Declares Friday, 12th April, 2024, Work-Free Day.”
It read: “His Excellency the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, has declared Friday, April 12, 2024, a work-free day.
“Katsina State Government’s decision to declare Friday as a free day follows the good gesture of the Federal Government for extending Ed-fitr public holidays to Thursday, 11th of this month.
“According to Malam Dikko Radda, his government has also taken this step to enable workers in the state to fully enjoy the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration with their families.
“Gov Radda then wishes the good people of Katsina state a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration. He further urged people to be security conscious and pray for peace to reign in the state and the nation at large as they celebrate this year.”
