Aisha Wahab, the young woman who was kidnapped in Auchi, Edo State, has regained her freedom after spending weeks in her abductors’ den during which a video was released on her begging for the ransom to be produced as her kidnappers had fixed a pay-or-die deadline on her.

The kidnappers demanded a ₦20 million ransom and even released multiple videos threatening to kill her if the money was not paid.

One of the videos, shared by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, showed Aisha in distress, pleading for help from Nigerians as her life hung in the balance.

In a new update, Harrison Gwamnishu confirmed that Aisha has been released. He shared a video of himself with the young lady and her mother celebrating her freedom. However, as of the time of this report, details remain unclear regarding whether the ransom was paid or how exactly her release was secured.

Aisha’s rescue has brought relief to her family and sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians thanking God for her safe return while still calling on authorities to do more to curb the growing wave of kidnappings and insecurity across Edo State and the country at large.
