An officer at the Lagos Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Gbolahan Oyedemi, has been found hanging in his country home in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
DCP Oyedemi served as the Aide De Camp (ADC) to a former Governor of Oyo State, the Late Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala, in 2006.
Like the Late Akala, who was a native of Ogbomoso, the police officer had visited the town from Lagos around Easter Good Friday.
Reportedly, he discharged his official aides and permitted them to return to their own families to celebrate Easter.
However, his body was found hanging in the house on Monday, suggesting he committed suicide.
Police Public Relations Officer of Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, confirmed Oyedemi’s death.
Sources told newsmen that his body was found hanging in the house on Easter Monday afternoon, suggesting that he probably committed suicide.
One source said: “He came with his aides and we heard that he discharged them to go and celebrate Easter with their respective families only to hear that he committed suicide yesterday (Monday).
“He was formerly staying with his mother in a house he built for her around Randa area of Ogbomoso, later he built another house located at Petros Academy Street, Federal Low Cost area and he thereafter moved to the new building where he was staying alone whenever he comes around.
“He was a quiet person, and he was unmarried.”
