Barely 24 hours after 36 state.chairmen passed a vote of confidence on the Julius Abure-led executive of the Labour Party (LP) and its Presidential Candidate, Pete Obi,. a rival.faction has approached the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the running of its affairs.
Led by Prince Prof. Ifagbemi Awamaridi, Acting National Chairman, the LP faction is calling for the intervention of the commission to probe allegations of mismanagement of N3.5 billion by Abire and others.

LABOUR PARTY SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS PANEL (SIP) PETITION EFCC OVER THE FRAUDULENT OPERATION OF THE PARTY FINANCES BY THE PAST EXECUTIVES AS IT CONCLUDES 1ST PHASE OF INVESTIGATIONS. … SETS UP PCC
The Special Investigations Panel set up by Labour Party Political Party (Operating with and under 2014 Constitution) has concluded the 1st phase of the Investigations on the Party Finances before, during and after the 2023 Elections, which it is doing in phases.
From the Investigations a prima facie case has been established, which makes it expedient that thorough Investigations by statutory outfit be conducted.
Therefore, petition has been forwarded to, received, and acknowledged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) (Petition Number: EFCC/PETHOK100501/2024) relating to the discoveries in the 1st phase of Investigations.
However, the Party has also set up a Public Complaints Commission (PCC) which has provided to Party members and the public, a special Email for complaints on any matter relating to Labour Party Political Party (Operating with and under 2014 Constitution).
For such complaints to be treated, it must contain a NIN compliant name or copy of author’s voters card, identifiable & locatable address and registered contact Phone number/s.
