Man Divorces Wife 2 Weeks After Their Wedding Over SUV Gift From Her Boss
Olukayode and Modupeola were newly married and living in a Government Reservation Area (GRA).
To the surprise of many, their marriage ended just two weeks after their elaborate wedding ceremony.
Before the wedding, Modupeola had been working for a Lebanese-owned company in Ilorin, Kwara State, earning ₦400,000 monthly.
She resigned from her job and relocated to Abuja to live with her husband after they got married.
Less than a week after the wedding, a brand-new Toyota SUV worth over ₦70 million was delivered to their home as a farewell gift from the Managing Director of her former company.
However, her husband, Olukayode, who works as a banker, was uncomfortable with such an expensive gift coming from another man.
He insisted that the vehicle should be returned, saying he could not accept it in their home.
Modupeola refused.
She argued that she was not the first employee to receive such a gift from the company and saw no reason to return it.
She also believed the new SUV was far better than the Volkswagen Golf they already owned.
The disagreement soon became serious. Olukayode gave her an ultimatum: Return the vehicle or the marriage would end.
Their Pastor and the head of Olukayode’s family stepped in and pleaded with Modupeola to return the gift in order to save the marriage, but she stood by her decision.
With neither of them willing to compromise, the marriage came to an end just two weeks after they exchanged their vows.
