MFM Church Scraps Night-Long Vigils, Issues 8pm Deadline In Over 1,000 Nigerian Branches Due To Insecurity
In response to the prevailing insecurity in Nigeria, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has ordered the immediate suspension of all vigils, overnight prayer meetings and similar programmes across its branches nationwide.
Of over 3,000 branches worldwide, MFM has over 1,000 in Nigeria alone.
The move to halt overnight programmes was announced by the Director of Administration, MFM International Headquarters and Nigeria, Pastor Temitope Olawale, through an internal circular dated June 5, 2026.
According to the circular, all church programmes, services, meetings and activities at every level of the ministry must end no later than 8:00 pm until further notice.
The church also directed that vigils and overnight programmes should be suspended immediately.
Branches that require such gatherings were advised to convert them to evening prayer meetings that must end on or before 8:00 pm.
MFM said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to protect members amid the country’s security situation.
“These measures are purely precautionary and are intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country,” the memo read.
The ministry directed all overseers, zonal pastors, branch pastors, groups and departments to strictly comply with the directive.
It also instructed Mega Regional Overseers to ensure that the information circulated to all regions, zones and branches under their supervision for immediate implementation.
