Nigeria’s Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has elevated 87 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new SANs will hold on Monday, 30 September 2024.
They include popular Lagos lawyer, Monday Onyekachi Ubani, a renowned newspaper reviewer on television and radio and the presenter of a popular radio programme, “Know Your Right with Barr Ubani.”
Ubani was Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja, between 2012 and 2014, elected Second National Vice President of NBA 2016 to 2018 and became Chairman of NBA-SPIDEL (Section of Public Interest and Development Law) from 2021 to 2023.
Under the leadership of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, LPPC made the announcement on Thursday at its 164th plenary session.
Unveiling the list of new SANs, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and Secretary of the LPPC, Hajo Sarki Bello, said they met the high standards demanded of the profession for SANship.
He said: “The rank of SAN is not just a title; it is a mark of excellence, a recognition of outstanding contributions to the legal field.
“These 87 individuals have demonstrated remarkable expertise and dedication, making them worthy of this prestigious honour.”
