We were pressured by religion and the church. We were told it was wrong to be close friends, to serve in the choir together, to be single workers in the church. They insisted marriage was the answer.
So before we knew it, counseling was arranged, dates were fixed, and we went along with it. We thought friendship could automatically translate to marriage. But friendship and marriage are not the same.
When we got married, we realised we were not compatible as a couple. We had love and respect, but it wasn’t enough.
