The Ogun State Government has directed public and private primary and secondary schools, with government technical colleges, to resume for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The announcement came in a Press Release by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and signed by the Honourable Commissioner, Professor Abayomi A. Arigbabu, on December 31, 2025.
According to the ministry, the resumption date is in strict compliance with the approved Ogun State academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school year.
“All public and private primary and secondary schools as well as Government Technical Colleges in Ogun State are to resume for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, 5th January 2026,” the statement read.
The ministry stressed that schools are expected to begin academic work immediately upon resumption to ensure effective teaching and learning throughout the term.
“Schools are expected to commence academic activities immediately,” the commissioner stated.
Parents and guardians were also urged to make adequate preparations to ensure their wards resume school as scheduled.
“Parents and guardians are enjoined to prepare their wards for resumption,” the statement added.
The Ogun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a structured and uninterrupted academic calendar in line with its education development agenda.
