Farmers from the Ago Owu Government Farm Settlement have staged a Save-Our-Soul protest at the Osun State Government Secretariat in Osogbo the state capital.
The Ago-Owu Government Farm Settlements is located in Ikoyi, Isokan local government area of the state.
Their protest on Tuesday was over rising insecurity and incessant attacks from Fulani herders in the area.
The farmers bore several placards with different inscription, and urged the state government to come to their rescue as their productivity was being affected.
One of the farmers, Jimoh Rahmon, said the situation had become unbearable.
“We have been constantly harassed and threatened by Fulani herdsmen. Ours is a farm settlement established by the state government.
“We call on the state government to accede to our request and come to our help. We are being attacked and this was not so before now.
“Our farm produce are being affected. Cattles just invade out farmlands, destroy and consume our crops.
“We don’t have arms to defend ourselves because these Fulani herdsmen are sometimes armed but we want the state government to provide us with security and protection.
“We are farmers and we love what we are doing.”
