Akinbolusere, owner of Esther Estate, had made a couple of video recordings in which he exonerated anyone from his impending action and willed his visible assets to his wife and children.

In one of the recordings, he insinuated that he had overreached himself in secretly taking a second wife, and the demands of the relationship put pressure on him.

He did not name the other woman, although his first recording identified his first wife and their three children.

He called his wife Adenike Esther Akinbolusere (from Ekiti State) and the three children, all based in Canada: Oluwaferanmi Akinbolusere (first child), Toluwani Akinbolusere and Daniel Akinbolusere (youngest child).

THE POLICE STATEMENT

“The Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Felix Ohagwu, has commenced an investigation into the suspected suicide of a 46-year-old man, identified as Akinbolusere Kayode, popularly known as Tolufe, who reportedly died in his office in Igba Town, Ondo State, on Thursday, 29th October 2026.

“The incident was reported following information received from members of the public that the deceased, a resident of Road 7, Housing Estate, Igba, had died in his office located beside BOVAS Petrol Station, Igba Town, at about 1500hrs on the said date.

“Upon receipt of the information, police operatives attached to Bolorunduro Division visited the scene, where two empty bottles suspected to have contained Sniper insecticide were recovered from  nearby bush.

“Preliminary findings also revealed that the deceased had allegedly recorded a video before his death, which has since circulated on social media, in which he reportedly lamented about his life struggles.

“His remains were subsequently evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital Morgue for preservation and further examination. No foul play or visible marks of violence were observed on his body at the time of examination.”

FIRST VIDEO

“I am doing this video on behalf of my family. I, Akinbolusere Kayode, am doing my will on my properties. I am doing this on my own; nobody put pressure on me. I woke up and left for work, leaving my family at home.

“The first and second machines I was using at work developed a fault. I was imagining what was happening. When I started my business, I started from scratch and was very transparent about it.

“My wife knew how I suffered. She didn’t trouble me. I will all my properties to my wife, Akinbolusere Esther, who hails from Ekiti, and my three children who are in Canada.

“My (wife) stood by me when I had nothing and never for once wronged me. She was very supportive when I had nothing, especially when I was working as a barber. I was the one who destroyed everything with carelessness,” Kayode stated.

In a separate documented recording that surfaced, Kayode addressed a polygamous arrangement.

He explained that he had already heavily provided for his second wife—buying her a house, cars, and land worth ₦30 million.

The man also spoke of spending heavily to help her bury two of her relations.

He stated that because he had fully “settled” the second wife, she must not disturb or trouble his first wife and children after his passing.

SECOND VIDEO

In the second video, the late Ondo businessman was speaking to someone he called his lawyer and gave details on financial provisions he made for his second wife.

In the recording, which circulated on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, October 30, 2026, Kayode spoke about his polygamous family and explained the steps he had taken to prevent disagreements between his two wives over his estate.

Speaking in English, the owner of Esther Estate listed several provisions he had made for his second wife, including sponsoring her mother’s trip abroad, sending her child overseas, buying cars for her and purchasing a parcel of land reportedly worth ₦36 million.

He also disclosed that he sponsored her father’s burial, explaining that he had made the arrangements privately to ensure his second wife would not trouble his first wife.

“I don’t want my second wife to trouble my first wife,” he stated in the video.

Kayode further explained that after making the provisions for his second wife, he had decided that his remaining properties and assets would belong to his first wife, Adenike, and their three children, who are based in Canada.

The recording appeared to have been made as a documented account of his decisions, with the businessman stating at the beginning of the video that he was speaking on record.
