Protesters shut the Ondo State Governor’s Office at Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital over the killing of another five farmers by armed herdsmen at Aba Oyinbo in Akure North Local Government Area, on Wednesday.
Commuters and motorists on Akure/Owo Road were stranded as protesters assembled in Ogbese where they barricaded the road in protest.
Armed herdsmen had about a fortnight ago killed 14 people in four communities—Ademekun, Aba Pastor, Aba Sunday, and Alajido—all in the same local government area.
These fresh victims were shot dead in another invasion by the hoodlums in the early hours of Wednesday.
The fresh killings come barely two weeks after no fewer than.
The angry protesters stormed the Governor’s Office in large numbers, chanting solidarity songs and calling on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to urgently intervene and halt the unrelenting attacks on farmers.
Displeased by the slow reaction of the state government to the incessant killings, the angry protesters stormed the Ondo Governor’s Office to display the bodies of the casualties of the invasion.
