Senator Oshiomhole U-Turns His Claim That Signatures Were Forged To Get Natasha Suspended From Senate

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has retracted his earlier claim that signatures of senators were forged in the report that recommended the suspension of fellow lIpper Chamber legislator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that his comments during a television interview were misrepresented.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Edo North Senator clarified that he never alleged any Senator’s signature was forged, but was merely referencing a comment made by a committee member who claimed that attendance signatures were attached to the final report.

“The insinuation that I said signatures of Senators were forged is a complete misrepresentation of what I actually said,” Oshiomhole stated.

He expressed full agreement with Senate Spokesperson Senator Yemi Adaramodu that no signature was forged in the process.

Oshiomhole also emphasised that no Senator had complained to him about forged signatures.

The Senate had earlier dismissed the forgery allegations, with Adaramodu describing the claims as “not true” and “very strange.”

“If Senator Kingibe had anything against any procedure, she would report it on the floor of the senate, not to an individual,” Adaramodu said.

Oshiomhole noted that the controversy surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension had been put to rest and the Senate moved on.

He regretted if his comments had caused embarrassment to any Senator or the 10th Senate as an institution.
