Concerned Lagos PDP Patriots Forum
We, the Concerned Lagos PDP Patriotic Forum, have observed with great concern the statement credited to the PDP South-West Secretary, Hon. Rahman Owokoniran.
In the said write-up, titled, “Clarion Call to Lagos PDP”, he laid the blame of the failure of the party to win elections in Lagos on the leadership at the top, thus absolving himself of any blame, and denigrating the party leadership.
We see this as deceitful and hypocritical. It is simply pointing an accusing finger at others, when the four other fingers point back at you. Simply it’s a case of pots calling the kettle black.
We have not forgotten so soon, the role he played to a ‘Guber stranger’, whom he served as DG, during which the election funds was said to have been mismanaged by him.
This led to his total rejection by the same Guber Candidate, who blatantly rejected him as Campaign DG for the second time in 2019. Thus, he has been in political oblivion ever since, not until he was revived politically again by the same party leadership he criticized. What ingratitude shamelessly expressed!
Since his revival by the same party leadership through his emergence as the South-West Zonal Secretary of the party, we ask, what positive impact has he made in the party starting from his local government to the state level? Nil!
We also have it on good authority, that he worked against the party’s success in the 2023 general elections at all levels, including his own local government Kosofe.
To set the records straight, it’s not true Lagos PDP has not won or been winning elections in Lagos. The truth is that the party’s successes have always been tampered with by diverse interests or interlopers who turn around to jeopardize the party’s chances at the poll. We have heard of party top persons openly confess and apologize for their role in jeopardizing our party’s chances in Lagos. If Owokoniran cannot produce an elected Councillor in his own ward all this time, then, he has failed as a leader.
The lesson is clear enough: “When you live in a glass house, do not throw stones”.
In conclusion, what the party needs now is total reconciliation and rebuilding, moving forward. Not blame game for self political gratification.
We implore all dedicated party members to remain focused, steadfast and don’t be despondent.
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
